In the following article, we would like to show you the possibility of saving part of the space even when choosing a swing gate that opens inwards. We already know from practice that there are several cases where the customer does not have enough space for sliding the gate to the side (cantilever gate/rail gate) and at the same time lacks space for opening the swing gate inwards. The use of a single-wing or double-wing folding gate is a suitable option for your “problem” and we can save up to 50% of space with it.

Folding wing gate simply means that when opening, the wing breaks into two halves, which slowly move towards each other. The description of this system is complex, but the solution itself in practice is, on the contrary, smart and elegant. So let’s break it down and explain how it all works. The wing construction consists of two separate frames, which are connected by strong circular hinges, which ensure that the wing can break in the middle. The FOLD system is attached to the bottom of both wings, which, thanks to a sophisticated mechanism, can break the wings in the right direction and pull them together. As a result, we will not only create a visual that is barely visible, but we will save at least half of the space that a swing gate would take up with its movement.

For simplicity, we will give an example. The client, whose clear opening width is 4 meters, has a problem with insufficient space for the lateral movement of a cantilever gate or rail gate. Another data is the length of the space on the driveway for opening the swing gate, which the customer specified at 1.2m. In this case, if we were to make and install a gate where one wing was 2 meters long, we would not be able to open the gate fully, because a vehicle or other obstacle would obstruct the movement space. So, exactly in this case, we would implement a mechanism for folding the wings. In the production process, we construct the original fixed wing with a length of 2 meters from two identical frames with a length of 1 meter and connect them with a hanging circular hinge. Subsequently, during assembly, we apply the FOLD folding system, which folds these two parts and the total space for the opening behind the entrance is shortened to 1 meter. We have saved half the space for the movement of the gate, and the customer can park his vehicle on the access road already 1.1 meters behind the opening without any worries.

However, such folding gates are an option for anyone. Whether you have space for opening the gate or not is up to you. In addition to the fact that these gates save a lot of space, they attract attention, because you will rarely see anything similar.

However, there is one catch. Such a folding system is only possible with a maximum wing length of 2.4m. Therefore, if you have a wider wing, you need to think about other solutions. There are endless options, you just have to find the best ones. Therefore, at VISIO systems, do not expect an answer that it is not possible to manufacture or install it, but what you can expect is a tailor-made solution directly for you.

With such folding gates, it is necessary to take into account that the production and assembly itself is more demanding. During production, it is necessary to take into account that this is not a classic wing frame, but requires technical processing and accuracy of technical drawings down to the millimeter. It is somewhat more demanding work than with a “classic” swing gate. Installation of folding gates takes a little longer than normal installation. The system itself needs to be installed and tested before the drive is installed, so to speak, to win with it. What we would like to point out is the fact that gate automation is not necessary. Whether you choose a gate with or without an operator, this system can be installed. If it will be a gate with a drive, nothing will surprise you when opening and the wings will fold automatically, or if it will be a gate without a drive, in this case the wings will fold easily and you will not have to push particularly hard, exert yourself. However, we recommend using a drive for more convenient opening. These drives will make your life easier, especially in bad weather.
